Sometime between late 1946 and 1949 my mother presented a winner's trophy and a big kiss to a winning midget race car driver named Gib Lilly. He was driving #17. Billy Vukovich was was on his competitors. It was in Southern California. Was he any relationship to the Lillys discussed here? Unfortunately RUclips will not let me paste the photo in here.

When a dirt track RUclips channel plugs into the P.A. system, I'm gone after about three laps. If something is going to roar through my head phones, I'd prefer the race cars over the announcer. Sorry.

Bud is a racing treasure! I have known him and his family since I was around 6 years old. My uncle, Bill Fiser, was a flag man, and we went to every track in KC and the surrounding area during my childhood. Two of my cousins were trophy girls. We knew the Weld family well. Great times, and great to see Bud on a video!! I love the old sprint cars!!!!

Buddy Cagle was my hero in the 60’s and early 70’s at Tulsa Speedway (at the fairgrounds). I loved cheering for Buddy in the #52 John Zink Special, each Saturday night. I remember Christmas parties that his family, the Crawfords, and many other local drivers and their families attended at Shirley Ellis’ (Gibbons) home. The Cagles had a wonderful son and daughter, both of whom were always gracious. I’m guessing that this may be his son, Clayton. Thank you for recording this award presentation (remembrance).

I don't blame the guy from bitching aboutDriving on a black slick track. We run dirt not asphalt the track should be nice tacky or heavy however you want to say it so you can use your motor the tracks here in Michigan where I run same way one-track being is the owner has two kids and a nephew that like it black slick that's what we get.

I sit in front of Dale at the Knoxville Nationals for many years. He's such a genuine very likeable guy. He never failed to help my Mother up and down the aisle to her seat. He definitely deserves the nomination to the hall or fame.
